Quentin Humberstone

Chairman

After studying management, and failing to get a job, Quentin became an accountant. As an Chartered Accountant he spent 25 years as a Partner at PwC London working in the Advisory business with a number of financial services and other clients. During this period he was a Trustee of RMTGB for many years, relinquishing this to become Treasurer of the United Grand Lodge of England in 2004, a very active role which he still fulfils. Amongst other things he is Chair of Finance at his Livery Company, who are happy customers of The Livery Companies’ Mutual.

Charles Angus

Director

Charles Angus was educated at Eastbourne Grammar School and went on to take a degree in chemistry with management science at Imperial College. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1985 and went on to holding senior financial roles across a spectrum of business sectors before moving into consultancy. As a director of Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) Charles is responsible for financial strategy, systems and processes, and has played a key role in streamlining operations. Outside of the MCF, Charles is a non-executive director of Venue 360, a leisure and conferencing enterprise and a Director of the Masonic Mutual.

Christopher Head

Director

Following 25 years in the Army, Christopher was appointed a Director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales responsible for post-qualifying training through the Accountancy Business Group. Moving on to a more global role at Merrill Lynch Europe plc, he dealt with Plans, Policies and Systems throughout EMEA, subsequently becoming Finance Director of the Merchant Taylors’ Company. This was followed by director level positions at American IT and consultancy firms. For the past 12 years he has been Executive Director of Finance for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution retiring in 2014. He has been appointed a Trustee of the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

Jeff Gillyon

Director

Jeff worked as a Logistics Consultant on Port Management contracts in the Middle East and Far East for a number of years. Following his return to the United Kingdom he became Managing Director of a Warehousing and Distribution Company and was instrumental in changing its focus from operational logistics to property management, leasing and eventual sale. He was Provincial Grand Master for the Masonic Province of Yorkshire North & East Ridings until June 2022 and a member of several United Grand Lodge of England Working Parties over many years. Additionally, he was Programme Lead in the development of their electronic Guidance Manual entitled Masonic Halls – Centres of Excellence.

John Pagella

Director

John is a Chartered Surveyor and a former Senior Partner of Montagu Evans where he advised institutional, commercial and private clients as well as government departments and local authorities on all aspects of commercial property. He had a particular interest in land acquisition for major infrastructure projects including the Channel Tunnel, the Jubilee Line Extension, and motorways throughout the UK including the M25. He is a former Chairman of both the Leatherhead Decorative & Fine Arts Society and of the Board of Trustees of The Grange in Bookham, He is also a Governor of the Yehudi Menuhin School. He was a former Grand Superintendent of Works at the United Grand Lodge of England (2014-2020) and is Chairman of the Steering Group which is responsible for managing and updating the Best Practice Guidance Manual for Masonic Halls and Centres.

Martin Richards

Director

Martin is an enthusiastic Mason in the Provinces of Dorset, Surrey, and Metropolitan London and was privileged to receive promotion to Active Grand Rank in 2023. He is an FCII-qualified, Chartered Insurer who has guided the mutual and its board from the very beginning.

Our Managers

Jim Knight

Mutual Manager

Jim is responsible for the daily management of the Mutual, He is a keen Mason and is a member of several Lodges, Chapters and Preceptories within the province of Surrey. Jim joined the mutual management team in 2017 having had over the previous 40 years worked for Lloyds’ brokers in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

Paul Page

Membership Services Manager

Paul has worked in the insurance sector for more than 30 years and joined the management team at Masonic Mutual Limited in 2020. As membership services manager Paul is responsible for the day to day servicing of the member’s mutual covers including new business quotations and renewals, as well as the placement of non-mutual insurances for those members who may require additional insurance covers not provided by the Mutual.

Chris Richards

Membership Services Executive

A Business graduate, Chris joined the management team of the Masonic Mutual in June 2022, where his responsibilities include the issuance of member documentation and handling member enquiries. Chris recently had the honour of being initiated at Lloyds Lodge in London. Prior to joining MML he held management positions, in the leisure, hospitality and entertainment sector.
